February 6, 2017 – Rushmoor Male Voice Choir presents a cheque for £1,750 to the Friends of Farnham Hospital representing the proceeds of their Christmas concert at the Farnham Maltings. The concert included performances from local students of The Weydon School Choir.

Peter Viveash, Chairman of The Rushmoor ‘Odd Fellows’ Male Voice Choir, today presented Diana Martin, Chair of The Friends of Farnham Hospital, with a cheque for £1,750 raised at a concert held on 8th December 2016 at the Farnham Maltings. The choir, under the baton of Musical Director Steve Petch and accompanied by Margery Wakefield, entertained the audience with a wide repertoire from classic choral numbers through popular hits including several Christmas tunes. The students from Weydon School added to the Christmas vibe with some delightful Carols demonstrating the quality of a thriving music department led by their Head of Performing Arts, Sarah Gilbert.

Presenting the donation Peter Viveash commented “For our annual Farnham Maltings concert we were very happy to choose to sing in aid of the Friends of Farnham Hospital. It is a local charity that is raising funds to help in the treatment of dementia patients – a condition that sadly has, and is likely to in the future, affect choir members as well as other residents in the area”.

Receiving the cheque Diana Martin said “The Friends and the Hospital are thrilled to have been chosen as the recipients of the funds raised at the wonderful concert in December. The donation will be used to buy iPads which are used by patients with dementia to help stimulate brain activity and conversation. The Friends will also donate some money for the hospital’s new GP Hub.”
