At our first rehearsal of 2012 on Monday 9th January we were able to present to Bells Piece Cheshire Home the proceeds raised from our Singing For You concert at The Maltings on the 9th December 2011. The total benefit to the charity was £2,795.77 which also included an extra £150 raised personally by the choir by donating monies in lieu of sending Christmas Cards to each other. The fabulous sum we were able to present was achieved through the wonderful generosity and continuing loyalty of our unique band of patrons who we thank most sincerely — particularly in these hard-pressed times. Our chairman Peter Viveash presented the cheque to Wendy Dunne from Bells Piece Cheshire Home with other members of the choir committee and of the charity.

It was our first Christmas Singing For You concert in the Great Hall of The Maltings on the 9th December 2011 and it provided the capacity audience with an exciting festive programme from the choir which included special arrangements of some well-loved carols in addition to standard stalwarts such as The Battle Hymn of the Republic and Grand March (from Aida).

Our guests The St. Lawrence Chobham Hand Bell Ringers provided a truly virtuostic programme of some amazing arrangements of Christmas Carols which delighted the audience. In keeping with the tenor of the evening the choir ended the concert in true campanological style with P.E. Fletcher’s wonderful Ring Out, Wild Bells.
