Here at Rushmoor Male Voice Choir we take your privacy seriously and will only use your personal data to provide you with news about the choir and our concerts.
Your Personal Data – what data we hold and why
Rushmoor Male Voice Choir is what’s known as the ‘Controller’ of the personal data you provide to us. When you register with us in person, or online, we collect just the information needed to communicate with you. That is your name and email address if you request to be informed by email, or name and postal address if you have requested to be mailed with paper newsletters.
The data we collect does not include any special categories of data (as defined under GDPR) or location-based information. We do not source any personal data from third-party vendors.
How we hold your data
If you have requested email news, your name and email address are recorded on an online Mailing List held on servers maintained by MailChimp in the USA who have suitable security measures in place such as compliance with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework. We believe that this will continue to be lawful trans-border activity under the GDPR rules. For the up-to-date status, please refer to the Mailchimp GDPR statement.
If you have requested postal news, your name and postal address is held on the personal computer of the choir member who carries out the mailing.
What we do with it.
The legal basis we rely on to process your personal data is that of Legitimate Interest. This is because:
- At some time, you have requested to receive news about the choir and concerts.
- As a result, it is reasonable to expect to receive information from us.
- It is very simple for you to opt-out of the communications.
We use the contact information you have supplied to send you newsletters as an email or as a printed letter – depending on your request.
No third parties have access to your personal data unless the law allows them to do so.
How long we keep it.
Your contact information that we use for marketing purposes may be kept by us until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information by selecting the “unsubscribe” option on any of our emails or by notifying any of the contacts provided on the printed newsletter or choir website.
What are your rights?
If at any point you believe the information we process on you is incorrect you may request it to be rectified. Your rights include:
- the right of access – you can request details of your personal data that we hold;
- the right to rectification – you can request that we correct inaccuracies in the data;
- the right to erasure – you can request that we delete your personal data from our systems;
- the right to object – you can unsubscribe from processing and mailings;
If you wish to inquire about how we have handled your personal data, you can contact our Choir Secretary on email@example.com.
