October 1, 2018– At their rehearsal today the Rushmoor ‘Odd Fellows’ Male Voice Choir presented a cheque for £1,000 to the Frimley Park Hospital Stroke Appeal. This donation was from a June concert featuring the choir and their guests, the Farnborough Hill School Senior Choir.
Peter Viveash, Chairman of The Rushmoor ‘Odd Fellows’ Male Voice Choir, presented Frimley Health Fundraising Manager, Keith Hanks, with a cheque that represents the proceeds from the concert held on 21st June at Princes Hall, Aldershot. The choir, conducted by Musical Director Stephen Petch and accompanied by Margery Wakefield, entertained the audience with a wide repertoire from classic choral numbers through popular hits to film and show themes. They were joined by Farnborough Hill Senior Choir which is made up of girls from Year 10 to 13 alongside some committed members of staff. In addition to singing regularly for school Chapel services, the choir is often to be found singing Choral Evensong at one of the country’s leading cathedrals.
At the presentation Peter Viveash commented “You may think it is enlightened self-interest to support this charity as it can often affect our members, and you are right! In the past we have supported Frimley Park for their Breast Care Appeal, their Specialist Heart Clinic and now we want to improve the care to patients who have suffered a stroke”.
On receiving the cheque, Keith Hanks stated “I would like to give a massive thank you to Rushmoor Male voice Choir for donating £1,000 Frimley Park Hospital Stroke Appeal. The appeal is trying to raise £1m to build a new treatment area for stroke patients. Donations like this from the choir and other local community groups will enable us to provide a quality of care for stroke patients and over above the hospitals normal, excellent, service”.
The Choir is performing in a number of concerts over the coming months including events in Four Oaks, Normandy, Cranleigh and Haslemere culminating in their major Winter Concert at the Farnham Maltings on 14th December. Details can be found on the choir website at rushmoormvc.com.
